The radio is new to me and it likely hadn't been operated in years. I re-dip, each time to the exact same spot on the Final Tuning scale, a nice dip, and when re-keying, same thing.off the scale.ĭo I have a bad solder joint somewhere or is there something else going on? I had one tube, the 6DE7 that wasn't heating up when I first powered up after a Re-Cap. Get her all set again, re-key and pow, the meter is off the scale again. There is a rather narrow band that dips the plate, but the plate current is very smooth and responsive to the final tuning. I switch back to STBY and listen, then switch to CW and key. I switch to the antenna and clean up the tuning quickly and she's ready to go. Antenna to zero, select CW, TX into dummy load, and dip the plate, increase antenna to 125 and re-dip, etc., and I settle in with a final tune-up with 50 watts out. I set the grid at 3 MA and switch to plate. I have a final tuning issue though that is popping up. ![]() It puts out a nice 50 watts, and though being rock bound for now, it's a great experience. I have my (new) DX-40 recapped, cleaned up, and hooked up.
